Xbox uses character limits (44 chars name, 100 chars description); PlayStation uses byte limits (128 bytes name, 255 bytes description). For CJK locales, Xbox’s character limit is more permissive — a single CJK character counts as one character, expressing a concept that might take multiple Latin characters. For PlayStation, CJK characters cost 3 bytes each, making the effective limit much tighter. The practical challenge on Xbox is German, French, and Russian, which consistently produce longer strings than English and bump against the 100-character description limit.
